I have officially (Jan. 10, 2019) began the restoration on Penton 109XXXXX which would be an early 1972 model.   I do not have the original engine, but think it might have been a 5A Sachs.   I have had this rolling chassis (frame and wheels only) for a while, and it has been sitting in it's "disassembled parts" stage for too many years.  My two young children, son and daughter, have outgrown the Suzuki JR-50, and Honda CRF-50, and the daughter now rides my Honda XR-200.  Stage one began with a large roll of 80 grit sandpaper to remove four layers of paint and some corrosion: 1. original silver/grey metallic 2. battle ship grey 3. medium gloss black 4. shiny aluminum silver.  The frame actually looked like CAMO with at least three layers of paint showing in different areas.   My intention is to share and enjoy this Penton as a daughter/son/father project.  About 80% of the sanding is complete, then all the fun of painting and re-assembly begin!!!
