A John Penton story.... "bait"

Greetings,

I just now finished boxing up a few Penton items for shipment and as I rooted thru the pile of boxes looking for the proper ones, a John Penton memory from "days gone by" came to me and I figured I would share it. Surely some of you oldtimers on here may have heard this one before, but for you newbies...or oldtimers with bad memories :)

I was staying at John's home as we were loading up the Cycleliner for a run out west for some ISDT Qualifiers. During dinner John mentioned how after dinner he was going to go to the Penton Brothers retail store to get boxes and deliver them to the Penton Imports building, as the parts pickers would need them in the morning for sending out Penton parts orders.

I mentioned that I would be glad to go along and give him a hand and after desert  we were off to the retail cycle shop. John backed the pickup to the rear door of the shop and we entered, and sure enough there was a pretty good pile of boxes just inside the door. We made a number of trips each and when there was just a couple of boxes left I grabbed them and headed to the door. John was quick to tell me to put them back right where they were on the floor and I inquired as to why.

"They are the bait" John explained to me. You gotta leave a couple of boxes sitting where you want the pile to be, if you don't they will just toss them where they wish and then I will need to go thru the shop and gather them up the next time I need boxes. :D:D Another lesson learned.
