Many thanks to Mike O'Reilly for his excellent article in the last POG Still Keeping Track on a "Return to the Corduroy".

As Mike noted, this year's Cord Vintage GP is scheduled for Friday, September 20th, in conjunction with Day 1 of the 2019 66th Corduroy Enduro. Last year's inaugural Vintage event was a complete success and alot of fun. This year's looks to be even better!

To be clear...they've named it the "Vintage GP"...but it's a start-control Enduro, not a Hare Scrambles or something similar. 4 (perhaps 3...tbd) riders per minute. Ride transfer sections to the 4 special/terrain tests (no time-keeping), which are woods trail sections. Your elapsed time is taken in each test. As Mike mentioned...the Vintage course lay-out has the emphasis on "fun".

Lord willing, I'm planning to return, and I'll join Mike in encouraging any POG members from the NE to consider doing the same.
Consider that the Haliburton Highlands is a  great area for a September vacation tied to a Cord trip, something we did coming up from PA a number of times back in the 70's.

Note that on-line entries for both the Cord and the Vintage GP open on Saturday June 1. Here's the web site for more info...scroll down the page a bit for Vintage GP details.

I don't see it mentioned on the web page...but licensed street legal bikes are NOT required for either the Vintage or regular Cord events. They DO require a reasonable muffler however...

New this year:
They have added a V110 class - where your age and the bikes age add up to over 110! This in addition to the V100 class.
If you qualify, you can do battle with Richard, Speedy and some other old but fast dudes.

POG members...just a reminder to give this excellent Vintage event your consideration. It starts in Gooderham Ontario Canada, which is NOT that tough of a drive for those of us in the northeast or midwest. Lodging is available in nearby Haliburton. Make it a long weekend...ride the Vintage GP on Friday...spectate the 66th Cord on Saturday and Sunday. And if you'd like to give the real Cord a try on a more modern bike, I'd recommend giving Sunday's course a try! Heck...make it a real vacation! Rent a cabin and a boat on one of the Haliburton Highland's lakes...or plan a muti-day canoe trip in Algonquin park. Don't forget that the USD/CAD exchange rate makes your US dollar go ~ 25% further.
