Pulled together parts to assemble my steering head, triples for 32mm Ceriani front end but the stem tube seems to be too short. After installing the races and bearings there aren't enough threads to tighten it all down, much less screw on the steering head nut. May'73 Jackpiner project. Do I need a longer stem?? What am I missing?!

Thanks in advance for any/all input,

Chris H.

Chris,

What is the overall length of the stem you are attempting to use?  Should be 10" long.  There were also some stems that were 9-1/4" long but those were only used with the smaller single pinch bolt triples.

Thanks Kevin, Sure enough, the stem is exactly 9 3/4" long. I'll have to find the 10" version.

Oops, I meant 9 1/4" long.

Thx again, Chris H.

Chris,

I'll take a look around here tomorrow to see if I have an extra 10" one.  If I find one, I will PM you.

Thanks,

Kevin
