Just a few questions concerning my 1975 125cc Penton enduro.  (1) Should I stay with the 4.00x18 rear tire or go with a 3.50x18?  The bike will mostly be trail ridden.  (2) Were the girling shocks that originally came on the bike truly non-rebuildable?  (3) Was/is the D series Sachs motor the best of the bunch?  I ask this because I've never ridden another Penton so I have no reference for comparison.  Thanks everyone and have a safe holiday.

Craig;  You have one of the finest Pentons made.   Stay with the 400:18 rear, ( we used 14x54 sprockets also.   The "D" Sachs engine that you have is about as good an air cooled 125 engine there was.  Others may have been faster, but non more reliable and fast enough with the right rider.  The Girlings are not easily rebuildable, let's say they were not manufactured to be rebuildable.  Think about, they can be drilled, drained, cut, cleaned and reserviced, rewelded and reused.

Thanks for your answers Doug.  My Penton runs very strong and I recall drag racing an 1978 RM 125 Suzuki to a draw several years ago.  The original girling shocks were replaced with a pair of koni shocks which need to be rebuilt or replaced.  Can't wait to go riding.
