I am trying to piece together a complete 175 motor. I have a black 73 cylinder, a 74 cylinder, 74 & 76 head, 76 case, and a 74 & 76 crankshaft. My question involves the crankshafts and the porting of the cylinders.  The 74 crankshaft has solid crankshaft weights and the 76 has a cutouts in the crankshaft weights.

1st Question, will the 74 crank fit in the 76 cases?

2nd, if the 74 crank fits, would this be the better crank to use because the porting in the 73&74 clyinders.

The question is driven by the theoretical question concerning crankcase pressures and porting difference between the 74 and 76 engines, because of the cutouts on the 76 crankshaft.

Thank You

John

The 74 and 76 have different part num for both the crank assy and the rod kits. The 76 parts book lists the 74 rod kit as interchangable, but not the crank. The cylinders have the same part number.
