fading spark

I was talk to Al B. the other day. I was telling him about my bike being hard starting. He thought that I might be having a problem with the motoplat fading, ie. weak spark. Is there some way to measure if the spark is growing weak? and How would I know what is normal? I had broken the kickstarter this week and to start the bike I pulled it behind my truck and even then it did not start all that easy. Any one have any ideas?
