I feel like an adopted kid who just discovered my parents...Just got off the phone with the guy who bought my '73 250 Harescrambler new from the dealer and raced it back in the day. Very interesting to discover new background on my bike I thought I knew so well.

When I bought this as a project in 2002 (from WA) the guy gave me an old wrinkly CA title showing it was first registered with a street license to a guy named James. Today I finally thought about seeing if maybe the guy was still around and to see if he'd be interested in what happened to his Penton of 30+ years ago. On the old title, there was a phone number someone penciled in...called it on a lark, and old James picked up! Talk about surprised.

Weeeird...said it was his first 250, raced it at L.A. night MX's for a year and made some money, then sold it and hadn't seen or heard of it since. He said it was really fast but handled like crap...no telling what he was comparing too. Handles good for me. The guy apparently started with Monarchs and has restored a 125 and vintage raced it recently, but no Pentons I guess. He's moved a bunch of times and said his phone number is only about 10 years old, so no telling how or who penciled the number on the old pink slip.

No family reunion planned yet. Now I'm waiting for the day my phone rings and some guy tells me his racing my '66 Yamaha 65 scooter.

Mac, that is just too cool.. Everyonce in awhile I wonder what ever happened to my 360 montesa cappra. does someone still have it and do they love it as much as I did. I can't even remember why I ever sold it, not for sure anyway. Seems to me as I scrape the dark walls of my memory I sold it to a friend who wanted to race it on flat track. Always thought it would be cool to have it back.

Thom Green,I own and ride a 76 250 MC5 MX which I bought new.
