My bike was bogging down something terrible from 3rd thru 6th and with many suggestions from fellow POG members, I tore into my 77 400GS6 yesterday. I (1) disassembled the carb and cleaned it (again). (2) took apart and cleaned the discs on the Super Trap silencer. (3) took apart the motoplat and cleaned all contact points, checked the timing. (4) Resoldered the plug wire connection from the coil and checked the ground. (5) fresh gas and fresh plug and tried it out. It was scary fast....just like it was on 5/13/77, the day I picked it up brand new from the dealer in Atlanta,

Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
See ya in Tulsa!

Steve, I'm glad you finally got it running right, This web site trouble shooting conversations can be very informative, especially now that you've posted what you did and how you resolved the bogging problem too. Atta boy  [8D]

So which part fixed your bogging problem? Any ideas or find anything obviously wrong? I've been curiously waiting to find out. Thanks and enjoy your newfound power. Dan Pagel
