Does anyone know if the clutch for the '75 250 and 400 are  the same?

Larry Perkins

My memory says that the springs on the 400 were longer thus making them stiffer but that is the only difference I remember.

Hello DM! in the Fall 1999 Issue # 4 (Keeping Track) is a great article by Bobby Lucas on clutch differences:
To quote, install sequence for the 400, first goes the bottom ring, then alternate 9 and 8 sinter disc. in comparison, the 250 Enduro/MC is quoted to have 7 sinter and 7 steel.
250cc MC begins with 2 steels rings; 250 Nduro= 1 ring
Also noted is the thickness of plates 250 vs 400..250 (MC)=3.5mm 250 (Nduro)2.5mm while 400=2.0mm
He also lists the length of springs:
250= 1.6mm dia. and 38.5mm length
400= 1.7mm dia, and 37mm length
This article also has some advice for setup and some differences in the sintered rings, some had angular shaped pads which should be installed to "sling" the oil outwards in regards to rotation...
A great article by one of our "champions"
Try to find this issue, it's a good one...
