My son and i just got a 125cc 6 day. The bike is in good cond. overall and will start. First of all, what is the second cable into the carb. for? it looks like a compression release on the bars. Second, how much and what type of gear oil For case?. Third, what kind of gas/oil ratio do we need to be running? What is a good plug to run in the 125? Thanks for any information, we are proud of this bike and anxious to get this thing going and i'm sure i'll be back for more advise.

Congrats on joining the world of Pentonia.  Second cable is a choke cable and I only use it on real cold days.  Generally the tickler button on carb if held in till carb overflows will start bike.  I use 600cc of Spectro 80W gearoil in tranny and use Golden Spectro at 32 to 1 in gas.  In 125 Six Days we run NGK B8HS plug.  Good luck and if I can help with anything including parts e-mail me at [email protected].

Larry's advice is exactly what I use in my two old machines, althought they are both KTM engines (175 and 400.) I use premium pump gas with a 104 octane boost and Golden Spectro at 12oz to 5 gal which I think is 54:1. They both still spit a little oil out the headpipe flange (which is what you want.) I used to run a little richer mixture, 32:1, (which you may need with the Sachs engine) but was told by a reliable race tuner that too much oil will only foul plugs, and can actually lean out your fuel as more oil means less fuel and it's the fuel that cools the motor, not the oil. Run a bike lean and it will sieze the piston, regardless of how much oil you have in the gas! Spectro, like any quality synthetic or semi sythetic does not burn, and is there to lube your bearings and cylinder wall since there's no crank case oil (don't confuse with the gearbox and clutch housing.) As long as there's some oil in the exhaust, you can bet there's oil inside the engine.
Also, change the oil a few times in the gearbox, with 80 wt. as Larry recommends, especially if it hasn't been run or used for years. You will find it shifts better and the clutch will work better.

Hope this helps.
Chris.
