Lights or lack of them?

I ran all the wiring for my 76' KTM tonight and am a bit perplexed. When I kick the bike I have a good strong spark, yet the lights to not even come on dim like they do on my six day with a new PLV ignition. I tried everything. The bulbs are good. The wiring is per the diagram in the shop manual. Could the lighting section of the motoplat be burned out? Or maybe the wired are cracked and shorting?

You may have already done this but, my first thought would be to check and ensure you have a good ground for the lights.

Chris, If you can obtain a good fluke multi tester with memory, when you crank that motor over, it will read the highest amount of voltage achieved  and store it in memory.

Hi Guys,

I tested all the grounds, I suspected a bad motor/frame ground. Maybe I hadn't sanded the mating surfaces well enough. I had good grounds so that can be eliminated. The wires out fo the motoplat do look dried and frayed. Could they be shorting? I think it might be best to just get a new MZ with lighting set up. I hate electrical issues and don't want to get deep in the woods and have it quit

If you do get an MZB they will be bright at idle.
