I have a 77 GS frame and was wondering what aftermarket shock combos are being run on the GP Frames. I don't want to use Marzocchi's on this bike. Rather somthing vintage but aftermarket. Maybe Fox, Works Performance ect. any suggestions?

A fellow Poggers using "work performance" shocks on his 77 GS 400 down in Mass, and those perform stupendously !!
I just wish I had 600 bucks to buy them.:(
I'm using the Zochs on my 77,and there in good shape, and work pretty well. for now.
someday, I will buy those "works performance" shocks.

Chris, I am using an old set of Works on my 77 GS6. I can't tell you much about them (they were on the bike when I got it) but they were set up for someone heavier than me ( 170 ). The rear end kicked around so bad it was hard to ride. Another POG member suggested I move them to the MX or forward mounts. That tip and a new set of S12's made this bike track straight and true with a pretty plush ride.

Chakka.. I have used works shocks on my GS6 and MC5 like them alot. They will cost you $400.00 from works to your door. I just sent a pair of Ohlins to get rebulit will have them next week. It all depends on how hard you ride. Hope this will help. Gary

Thanks Guys,

I was leaning to the works performace shocks. I used to have a set on an 81' Husky and they gave a super nice ride. I think the Fox Air Shocks look way trick but I know nothing about them.

Chris,
I have been doing some research on various shocks. I am presently using Curnutts. Like Fox air decent compression, not so good rebound. These shocks look good for vintage and work but if you want superior handling I would use Ohlin's set up by some one who knows how to do it right.
Carlos Serrano has done some dynoing for me and also recommends Ohlins over Works. Carlo's owns and operates SERRANO'S Motorsports.
He does a complete service on suspension. Very knowledgeable, impressive track record. Tucson Az 520-294-9691

Wow! I always wondered what happened to Carlos Serrano. We used to go to Beeline just to watch him! We always thought he would make it big but he just disappeared.

Anyway, love my Curnutts on my '78 GS6 400. It works in rough terrain, fast terrain, everything.
