Hello Troops,

I'm wondering if someone would be kind enough to tell me what size of Allen Key fits a 77/78 250 Swingarm bolt. Mine had to be cut in three to get it out a few years ago :( (Corossion due to Scottish weather!!) and I no longer have the part with the head on it and wanted to make up a new one from Stainless to avoid the same again.

Thanks for your help
Cheers
Chris.

12mm hex, welcome aboard!

Frosty

Chris,I'd just use a stock one but put some neverseize on the bolt.If you mix the 2 metal types that will cause corrosion(electrolysis).Stainless steel is hard and might not survive the torque rating that is needed on a swingarm bolt.I think it could be as high as 70 ft/lbs but check your manual to be sure.Welcome aboard,Frosty

Thanks for the info guys, and the welcome. It's nice to be here :)

Good point about the mixing of metals Frosty, I hadn't thought about that.
To be honest it was probably due to previous lack of lubrication that the problem arose in the first place.[xx(] I tried over here to get an original bolt but they are no longer available although I did manage to get a brand new bearing sleeve from Jim Aim M/C's. Anyone know of anywhere I could get a new bolt from??

Thanks again
Chris.
