I am new to the group and own Maicos, CZ's a Rickman and picked up a Penton 125 here recently.
I was interested in putting a 100cc top end in my 1974 125 to race the 100 class we have here in the NW..
A few say it is an easy swap and can be done.
If so, does anyone have a 100cc top end with piston I could buy to give it a shot?

Please advise if this is possible.

Thanks

Gary,

As long as it's the Sachs engine, the swap is a snap. Piston, pin, rings, cylinder, head, and head gasket are the different parts. Of course, you'll probably have to tweak the jetting a little as well.

It is the sachs motor with KTM tuning...
acutally, not exactly sure what KTM tuning entails...can somebody enlighten me on that??

thanks

i made this switch also this past year. All you need do is get a new top end and a new base gasket for the 100 which Al Buehner has available. I also switched out the Bing for a 28mm Mikuni. Then put a red MX tank on it, new decals from Al again and get one of those new exhaust systems from Circle F that Ron Carbaugh helped get made. I also went to a 13 tooth front sprocket and a 60 tooth rear. If you get your bike ready to put on the line in the great PNW it will run next to my Berkie. Penton will rule the 100 class once again. Does life get any better.

In an old 76' Keeping Track Magazine I saw an artical about a Carl Cranke built 100cc KTM. The bike utilized a Sachs 100cc top end on a KTM engine and GP frame...pretty cool stuff.
