The information regarding one of the finest men I've met in motorcycling is spreading through the Vinduro message boards, so I think it is appropriate that I introduce the information here.

A few weeks back Dave Mungenast experienced some rather puzzling mental and physical anomolies which prompted him to see some medical professionals to see what was wrong. The short story is that he has been diagnosed with a form of inoperable brain cancer, and unfortunately, it is rapidly progressing. (digressing?)

According to the latest news I heard, Dave is to begin some radiation treatment today. I have no definite prognosis to pass along, but from my own speculation, I'm afraid that things don't look good.

Let's all wish Dave and his family the best and keep them in our prayers.

POG Members,
I emailed Ray Mungenast about his Dad, specifically to ask if it was OK to notify the guys on my ISDT vets email list about Dave's condition.  I didn't want to infringe on the family's privacy.  Below is the reply I received from Ray this morning.
Please pray for Dave and his family.  There is huge healing power available, so please avail of yourself to ask in Dave's name.  I've seen the power of prayer work many, many times, so let's lift Dave up.  He is a one in a million guy and a true friend to the motorcycling community, as well as one of the humblest and most unselfish men I've ever met.  I am sad to see such a great man struck down like this.

Jeff,
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Dad is in a very serious way and the cancer is taking him down. We begin chemo and radiation this week but even with that unfortunately the prognosis is not good.
We have no problem with the groups knowing as we all feel the more prayer the better.
He loves all you guys as we all do and the motorcycle community is the most near and dear to him.
Thanks to all of you,
The Mungenast Family

Dane,
Thanks for relaying this information so that we can Pray for Dave and his Family.  I have known Dave for many many years and have worked with him both professionally and in fun(ridding Motorcycles).  I can say this that I only wish more people were as Honest and Caring as Dave....I could go on and on Praising this person but I feel those that know him know that he is modest and would want us to Pray for him and especially his Family.

I just met Dave a couple years ago at one of the Reunion rides. I knew right away he is one of the nicest guy's I have ever met.  I was really impresed by how friendly and down to earth he was to someone he never met before. I wish him and his family the best.

I don't want to be out of line here, but alot of people stepped up and helped Mert. Is someone going to step up here and supply an address for people to send donations to help out Dave??? The costs involved with treatment, and down time add up in a hurry. I'm sure a little help would be much appreciated. If I'm wrong by all means let me know, but it just seems the right thing to do. Keep fighting Dave, we're all praying for you.[^]

Is there any news on Dave's condition?

TGTech

I have not received any specific information on Dave's condition, but the situation is one where there are peaks and valleys and the family has experienced both. We all need to continue to pray for Dave and the family.

I just recieved word that Dave is now in critical care.  I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet Dave and ride with him three years ago in the Colorado 500.  70 years old, and could still ride better than most people around him.   Amazing to see.  My only regret was not meeting him sooner.  He is a great guy and was a blast to hang with.  Lot's of belly laughs listening to his old Malcolm stories.  All our prayers for him and his family are needed even more so now.

Wanted to keep this near the top of the topics list.  I spoke with Ron Ribolzi last night and Dave is going into hospice today.  Sadly his condition is very grave.  Ron says he is not in pain, which is good. He has been visited by longtime friends John Penton and Malcolm Smith in recent weeks. Please continue to lift Dave and his family up in your prayers.  He is among the best of the great ones.
