1976 KTM 125 54.5mm piston needed

I just got back from taking my 76 MC5 125 KTM engine to Gary Ellis to check the bore and other things and need a 2nd over (54.5mm) piston and rings. It is a standard bore now, but the top ring land was broken, as well as the top ring, and it is out of round to the point that it needs to go 2 sizes up to be sure it comes out perfectly round. If anyone has a new piston with rings that they care to part with, please let me know. I don't really want to go with a bigger bore than I have to.
I haven't been able to access my hotmail account since I got back this evening. The site may be down for some reason, so if you could post any information here, or call me, (at any hour), I would appreciate it. I also need base gaskets and a head gasket as well.
I would like to take this bike to the Renunion Ride as a spare, so time is of the essence. Thanks, Mike 618-793-2200

I checked my piston inventory and I have a 54 and a 54.25 for the KTM 125.  Maybe Firstturn will have what you need, I imagine his inventory is much BIGGER in Texas!

Thanks for checking. The cylinder looks OK to the naked eye, but measures .011 out of round, and .25mm probably wouldn't guarantee a nice round cylinder. This is a very nice condition 76 125 MC5 and I would like to take it to the RR as a backup bike for my 78 MX6 250 just in case the Motoplat on it goes south.
I am planning on offering the 125 for sale to help finance some of my other projects, if I can keep it around $ 1,400.00 after I get a chance to ride it a little once the engine gets new gaskets, seals, and the top end done by Gary. If I can get a piston quickly enough, Gary can have the engine done in time for the RR. Thanks again. Mike

Thanks to Ron C. a 54.5mm piston is on the way for my 1976 125 MC5 Penton/KTM engine! I still need base gaskets and a head gasket if anyone has any to spare. I don't want to buy a complete rebuild kit, because I already have all of the other gaskets and seals. Thanks for the help. Mike

Michael, et al,

Lanni at  //www.coppergaskets.us  probably has CNC cut copper head gaskets, and he does base gaskets as well. Pretty reasonable price and quick turnaround time. You can customize your thicknesses for tuning purposes.

Tell him Tony Price with the Sachs/Penton sent you.  He did my base and head gaskets for my "100cc" Berkshire.

He also has a contact who repops "paper" gaskets for the rest of your engine.

Tony, That information on the gaskets is PRICELESS! I think this may have been mentioned before, but we really should develop some sort of database on this site for ourselves regarding parts and services that are available out there. The suppliers we have listed currently do a great job and I have done business with a number of them,but its info like this and I am sure a lot of you other fellas have info/resources similar that could be compiled for all of us to benefit from to help keep these great bikes rollin.

I called a local KTM dealer to see if any of the part #'s were still good and found out for sure that they were discontinued, but the same dealer which is only about 20 miles from me told me that he has a source that has all of the original specs on file and can make any gaskets, engine case or exact duplicate head gaskets that I may need and will let me know by the first of next week for sure. That's good to know on the gaskets.  I suspect I may need some help in a few weeks myself.

I still like the idea of copper for the topend though.
