Want to run a 60 tooth sprocket on my 125 Six Days for motocross and cross country.  Would a 60 tooth be too low for the ISDT Reunion Rides, generally speaking? thanks, Jay

what's the front sprocket tooth count?

My '74 6day has a 57 tooth rear, and I was going to try a 55 - 1st gear already feels like a 'trials gear'.  With the 57 in the woods (for me, anyway), 2nd gear is too low and third was often too high for tight stuff, but I'd usually zip right past 3rd to get to 4th when it opened up a bit ... seemed like I was working very hard to find the right gear.  My thought was to lengthen 2nd and 3rd gear, making more speed in the tight stuff, and getting more play out of 3rd gear when it opened up a bit.

Guys,

A real good secret on these bikes(Sachs motored Pentons) is to gear off of a 60 and gear it where 1st is a bail-out gear in climbing and you can take off in second.  They will still go way fast enough for cross-country and you will miss less gears.

Larry,

Great tip!  I'll try it!
