looking for the old school type of aftermarket skid plate that fits up and around to protect the cases of the motors. I bash into or over most everything on either side of a trail and need the protection for  a '75 250 and a 76 175.
thanks

Joe, I have one I'll give to you.
It looks homemade but it's not, because I got two different Pentons from different places, and they had identical skid plates of them.
It's aluminum that completely covers the bottom, has the top/front shield bent out like a stock Penton engine guard, and half-circle wings that come off both sides to protect the side cases.
If I remember correctly, the mounting hardware are 4 U-bolts, which I don't have any longer.
I've seen better designs, but if you don't like it, you can always put a handle on it, and make it into a snow shovel.
Send me your shipping address if you care to have it.

Those were a Hi Point item sold through Penton dealers.
We sold and used them on most of the bikes we set up, and rode, at New England Sportcycles.
They gave very good protection from stumps and rocks.
