I have a 1976 KTM 400 MC5 and am wondering whether to part it out or keep it whole.  The bike is fairly complete, but doesn't run.  The bike is apart and the engine is out and apart (when I was tearing down the engine, I discovered that the threads on the crankshaft were stripped and the only way to get the motoplat off was to cut the shaft).  I figure it will take a lot of $$$ to make this run again.  Anyway, as silly as this soounds, I want to do what is best for the bike and Penton.  If I sell it in parts, it could help to get other bikes up and running.  But, if I keep it whole, that will be one more Penton saved from being scattered to the four corners of the Earth.  Just wondering what you all thought.

Nic, personally I wouldn't part it out and one good reason is there aren't a whole heck of a lot of 400 MC5 out here. I'm quite sure someone has a crank on this website for that model year and if not, it will show up on E bay, eventually.
Also being a later year Penton, there are  still parts available.
Just think of the power house you'll have when ya "get er done"[:p]
