I have always been a fan of the Jackpiner blue Penton. It is kind of an unusal color for a dirt bike ,but it grabbed me right from the moment I first saw it in the sales brocure. I like it so much ,I have the same color on my 250 Penton as well as my Jackpiners. Having said that, I also really like the original red 250 color and intended on painting my spare tank and side covers red ,so I could switch them back and forth when I get bored.

That idea may have changed when I was looking at some old pictures ,I saved from the Penton Days at the AMA museum.  There was a yellow (250?)silver motor Penton with white number plates, #83. I don't know about anyone else but I thought man was that a nice looking bike! Is that an original color and if anyone is familar with that bike, was that an original pipe or after market? Thank's for any help you may be able to provide.

Randy,
The bike you are talking about is none other than Toni Roach's 175. Husband, Gary Roach built the bike & he could tell you all about it.

Randy,
Send me an email and I'll forward some pictures of a yellow 73 250HS I assembled for a fellow POG member. It is a great looking bike which he rode in the ISDT RR last fall. I used the paint code provided on Tom Brosius' homepage for the tank and side number plates and it turned out excellent.

Randy,

Thanks for the complement on the wife's bike. It's a '73 Jackpiner frame with a '79 175 motor. The pipe is also a '79 model that I had to modify to fit the frame. She had always liked the color of the '73 250's, and since this was going to be a race bike and not a show piece, she wanted it yellow. The yellow she picked out is actually brighter than the yellow on the '73 250's. The bike may look cool, but she still rides it like a girl!
