Mike,   Many thanks for your offer, but that will not be required.  Dave has located a pipe that is the same as on his 77GS6 250, and we think they are both 77 MC5 250 pipes.  The both fit very well and line up at the mounting points.  Both have the pickle silencer however.   Again, Thanks for your offer to help !     Nelson
