Hey POGers, does anyone have infomation, photos or knowledge of a friend of mine from long ago by the name of Ray Kussmaul. He is younger brother to Jack Pine winner Roger Kussamul from Lansing Michigan. Prior to our meeting Ray had won many enduro's and evidently was partially sponsored by Penton. He evidently was also considered for the Six Days in 1971 or so but was not chosen. Any information in order to document this mans Penton history and   contributions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, TooTallPaul

TTP,

I remember the name and have seen it in print, but I don't know if I ever met Ray.  Penton used to put out a "Penton Wins" sheet once in awhile, they were a one sheet page in green and white with an event listed and telling the Penton riders names that either won the event or did really well in it, dealers would post these in their shops.  There were a couple of those sheets on Ebay awhile back and Ray was listed on one of those, I am pretty sure he had won a major enduro, I had looked at these and was interested in them but never did put a bid in, maybe a POGGER has them?

What luck, I just took a quick look in my folder of old Keeping Tracks and in the May 1973 issue, issue number 6, it states that Ray had won overall in the Burr Oak the year before but had to settle for the "A" lightweigh championship this year on his 125 Penton.

I am sure Ray is written up elsewhere in Penton memorabilia, as I find any more info I will pass it along.

Hope this helps,
Mars Paul

Hey Paul Thanks, any photos would be great also. He is still alive near Lansing Mi. and I believe he owns a 125 Penton but hasn't ridden for quite awhile. Maybe with some prodding I can get him down to Mid Ohio and I be happy to cut him loose on my scoot.
No doubt JP will remember Ray also as he damn near made the Big Show in Mass. What got me thinking of Ray was the photo in the other post...it sure looks like him but a little heavy. Anyway, it would be great to get some of his riding acomplishments documented. Thanks again,TTP

Sounds like this guy should be a guest in Sept at KTM.

hello all, I won the poster on Ebay and would be happy to make a copy for Ray if he would like one.
