On Saturday October 11th, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum will be holding it's 7th Annual Concours d'Elegance in conjunction with the annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies.  As part of the Concours d'Elegance, and in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Penton, the Director of the Museum, Mark Mederski, has asked me to assemble a group of Pentons for a "Penton Retrospective".  The Concours d'Elegance is a prestigious, invitation only, judged show and this is the first time in the history of the event that a brand has been featured in this way, so it's really quite an honor for us.  It is very well covered in the national press and will be a great opportunity to showcase our Pentons.  The event is of course open to the public and Jack and a bunch of other Penton guys will be hanging around so please stop by and enjoy the festivities.  Also, the new Museum exhibit "Moto Stars" just opened so you could take that in as well.  The following is the link to the Museum, where you can learn more about the Concours and the current exhibits:  http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/ .

If any of you have any show worthy restored Pentons, excellent original condition Pentons or Pentons with significant histories such as original ISDT bikes and you would be willing to bring them to the show, please contact me at [email protected].  I'll also post a list of the Pentons that are already committed to coming to the show.  The following are a few notable bikes that are missing from the list.  Any leads on examples of these would be greatly appreciated:
•   CMF Berkshire
•   1973 250 Hare Scrambler
•    Woodsman

Hope to see you there!

Kent,

Thank you for taking the time to assemble what looks to be an outstanding array of Pentons for this prestigious event.  Hopefully the machines that you are still in need of will be located, either way the "Penton Retrospective" in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Penton should be quite a display and a great time for all.

It's my pleasure Paul.  For those of you that are considering coming, the Museum grounds and exhibits are always beautiful and everyone always has a great time.  Jack, Paul, and a bunch of other POGer's will be in attendance so please stop by and enjoy the event.

I'm still in need of the following bikes if anyone would be willing to bring them:

  • 1969 Steel Tanker
  • CMF Jackpiner
  • 1973 Hare Scrambler
  • Woodsman
Thanks again!

Thanks to a large number of volunteers, the line up for the Penton Retrospective has filled out quite well.  I've updated the list above to reflect the latest entries.  Again, the event at the Museum is very special and everyone has a great time.  If you're close enough to come, please consider it.

Also, we're still in need of the following bikes if anyone would be willing to bring them:

CLASSIC BIKES TO COMPETE FOR TOP HONORS AT 7TH ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE HALL OF
FAME MUSEUM CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

Celebrated Author and Journalist Peter Egan Will Serve as Guest Judge

One of the highlights of the upcoming Hall of Fame Weekend, scheduled for
Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, at the AMA's Motorcycle Hall
of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio, is the Museum's 7th Annual Concours
d'Elegance.  This special event is one of the nation's largest
by-invitation-only shows of classic and collectible motorcycles, many of
them priceless or rarely seen works of motorcycle art.  Over 100 original
and restored machines will compete for the coveted Jim Davis Best-in-Show
trophy, as well as for top honors in a number of additional classes.  In
2007, Peter Calles and his 1971 MV Agusta 750 Sport took home the
Best-in-Show honors.

This year participants will also be eligible for two special awards.  Peter
Egan, the popular author and columnist for Road & Track and Cycle World
magazines, and Larry Little, publisher of Cycle World, are serving as guest
judges.  They will bring their passion for motorcycle heritage and eye for
historic detail, and will each award an exclusive trophy to the one machine
that most reflects their personal vision of a special bike.

Additionally, the 7th Annual Concours d'Elegance will celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the Penton motorcycle with a special Penton retrospective
display featuring significant machines. The Concours d'Elegance will take
place at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on
Saturday, October 11.  Awards will be presented at 3 p.m.  A donation equal
to the regular Museum admission fee is requested to enter the grounds, and
includes admission to the Museum. The Concours is part of a full weekend of
motorcycling events in Central Ohio, including the 2007 Motorcycle Hall of
Fame induction ceremony. For more information, contact the Museum at (614)
856-2222 or [email protected].

Hope to see you there in your Penton shirts and hats.
Paul
