I have been asked, by the powers that be, to inquire to how many of our friends who travel so far from the West Coast, Canada, New England, Germany , Europe, and South Africa, would like the opportunity to attend both Barbers Vintage Festival with their Nat'l CC and VMX, and PVMX and the ISDTRR on back to back weekends. I think it would be great for our friends to be able to attend both of these great events. I figure it would be easier for them to make the effort to attend when they can go to both major events with only 5 days in between.  What do you think.  Inquiring minds want to know.  Would this inspire more to come or do you think it would hurt more than it would help ?
Thanks,
Dwight

Dwight I spoke to Ken Smith from VMX magazine and he said that this would be a good idea for him to come. He would hit both events seeing they might be only a week apart. So for the guys coming from overseas this would be good. Although racing at Barber and then going the following week to the ISDTR might be tougher for some of us who live here.
Thanks

You have to remember that the ISDT-RR is a traveling event. Barber's  will always be in AL., which is relatively close to this year's ISDT-RR in OK. But in future years, who's to say the distance between the two events will be that convenient.
Does that make any sense.

Sure it makes sense Rob.  It would not be handy if it was say at Dalton, Ma.  But next year will be in McArthur, Oh., which is even closer than Tulsa is to B'ham Al. I am saying if the event is within 600 (or a reasonable distance)miles, why not tie the two together.

It would not be practical for me to ride major events on back to back weekends.

These are after all vintage motorcycles that have to be cleaned, serviced, and unfortunately repaired.

Also - the older I get the more recuperation time my body needs between events.

Just a thought. Seems like you may lose larger numbers than you would gain by doing this.

It all makes sense, what needs to be kept in mind is back to back events will call for conduct of those participating to preserve themselves and thier equipment, (what the heck) may have to give it a go myself.
