head gasket

On disassembly of of iron cylinder 125 engine there was a head gasket. Was this a mistake by previous "mechanic" ? I was told by others that no gasket is needed for this engine. Yes/No? ...and THANKS in advance.

No head gasket, lap it in place like a Husqvarna, wipe all compound off and there you go!  Don't forget to torque the four bolts.

What was the gasket made of? I have been thinking of putting a head gasket on my iron barrel 152 trials bike to lower the compression a little. When it was converted to a 152 the head was machined a lot and now it really doesn't like pump gas.

Dennis,
 Annealed aluminum or copper sheet is what we have seen on most engines for the job you are looking to do.
You can contact Tony Price, He has had some 152 head gaskets made up from someone close to him in Texas. The ones he got were copper. The supplier can make them up in .010 and thicker depending on what the customer wants. I think he said they cost him $15 each?
