Mount those shocks back in the original holes at top.  You can't race that way in Sportsman Vintage.  Very fast bikes.

Dwight, Do you seen anything else different about this Penton. This one is not that fast as I have detuned it a bit and it is now a  grand- son rider. Of all the bikes I have this is the one my 'year and a half' wants to ride on. Youngest Penton lover around. This is the best running bike on the place. Dave

Dave, it looks like you have put smaller wheels on it for your grandson to be able to ride it, especially on the front. Are those 28 or 30mm front forks? BTW, I saw Garys new original project last night, nice & ultra rare! Mike

Mike, The wheels are 3:00X21 front and 100//100-18 rear, with  Bridgestones, and are from a 1980 KTM 175. I replaced the originals, marked them, and will replace them when I restore the 175. This is a easy mod and I have a lighter bike and better brakes.  Gary called last night about the rare Penton. I have a new e-mail address. I thing I sent it to you. If you get down this summer, "If it stops rainning" will have to do some riding with Gary. L8er, ol Dave

Mike the forks or stock 32mm, but if you POGers look very close theres more mods. The carb is a 28mm Bing. L8er, ol Dave

Of course the later model aluminum silencer with unshrouded pipe, Trail Tech type kick stand, Billet or different model triple clamps, very short flat seat, & Marzocchi shocks. Is that a 6 fin cylinder in there? I am not too familiar with the pre-74 chassis, but the swingarm looks similar to my early red tank 74 HS 250 with a short brake brace arm. Mike
