Mount up your clocks and route sheet holders, fellow POG'ers.  It's time for the Ohio Valley BSA Club's Fall Reliability Run.  Basically a vintage-friendly dual-sport ride, this is an event you don't want to miss.

Held in the beautiful, green hills of SE Ohio, the course follows a fantastic series of hilly backroads, gravel roads, dirt roads, logging roads, jeep trails, quad trails, bike trails, and even snail trails.  You will not be bored!  But, it's completely ridable.  Consider that I ride the event on a gruesomely stock '77 Honda XL175 and have survived to tell the tale.

Saturday morning, August 8th, 9:00 am key time.  Just take the Southernmost exit for Toronto, Ohio, off of St. Rt 7, just North of Stuebenville.  Everybody knows where that is!  You'll see the little "BSA" sign on the Exit sign, then just follow the creek road, 3 miles North and you'll run right into it.  Five bucks to get in and ten bucks to ride.  No AMA required, no AHRMA neither.  Just plunk down your monies and support these good BSA folks.  They deserve it.

Hang a plate on the back of your favorite street-legal-lookin' scoot, and come on out and have some fun.  Ride it once and you'll forever mark the Reliability Run as one of your must-repeats.  See ya' there!

Anyone who is near enough to make it, this is a really enjoyable ride.  A great mix of vintage bikes, good riders and putters like yours truly.  A little bit of bench racing thrown in.  The event in May featured at least 5 really nice Pentons, a Zundapp, a Husky, an Ossa, a Bultaco, and a nice assortment of other vintage bikes from all eras.  There was a great BMW R80 G/S from about 1981 that didn't ride the event but was there with a spectator.  Loads of cool vintage trials bikes, including some Hodakas.  For my part, I started a blazing campfire in my seatfoam so I could provide a pleasant interlude for otherwise lost and bored riders.  This, after forming a one-man Spanish Blockade of the trail.

Last year there was a very nice restorable Hercules 175GS for sale at $800 and numerous Bultacos and Montesas.  I guess my point is that I think you will enjoy it if you are more in it for the bikes and fellow riders than for sheer competition.  Ted, sorry we will miss it but hope to see you in a couple of weeks with Nelson and crew.  :D:D:D

Mars Attack,

The reason that your seat foam caught fire [:0] at the May event was from your ray gun! You forgot to set the safety on it before going riding.
