Hey Gang, several weeks ago when a bunch of us had brought our vintage iron to Washougal the national, (a great time) I met a guy from ohio. He had come out to visit his daughter for a few weeks. he had the chance to come down to the race so he took it. To his surprise he found all these old bikes.  I was holding down the fort and we got to talking. I gave him my number and he called me up a week or so later, and came over and we spent several hours bench racing and talking about Pentons and Maico's and such, he said he knew several Penton riders back home.. I do not think he is a member here but maybe one of you guys that know him could encourage him a bit...and join in the fun. His name is. Jimmy Jerles,
 thanks

Yep, Jimmy ran a Maico in AHRMA and was......is faaast.  He also was a prominant rider back in the day.  The only bad memory I have of him was when he and Greg Troyan tangled at Casey during practice.......wasn't pretty.

I remember a James Jerles racing at Mid-Ohio in the early to mid 70's

My first motocross win, was over Jimmy Jereles in Kenton, OH in late winter of 1970. The event was a snowy, wet muddy event, and Jimmy was racing a 100cc Suzuki and I was racing my 100cc Berkshire. Jimmy's bike wasn't as tough for the messy track, and so his bike wouldn't take the mud compared to my Penton . Jimmy was a fast guy, so we raced him a lot in the early '70s.

Dane-   I'm sure you remember a couple of guys that you used to battle with at Ravenna, Ron Yarckow and Kevin Piasecki.  I was just together with them last week when my wife and I were in Toledo. We had a little get together with a bunch of us old Toledo racers. Way fun!

Jeff,

Don't forget Jeff Piasecki as a fast racer too. Well, all the boys were fast.
The last time I saw Kevin, was at the Penton Celebration at Amherst last fall. His dad was also there too.

Indeed Jeff was a fasty.  I used to travel with Jeff to many races. Funny, when I was just with Kevin he mentioned what a great time he and his father had at the reunion. Kevin took me back to his office and showed me the trophy that his dad won at the Jackpine in 1952 (if I have the date right)  Cool stuff, great times!
