mint 400 crank needed

i have a 400 motor with the right side crank damaged. i need one of the cranks that do NOT have the external weights. anyone have one for a reasonable price? thanks for any consideration. chi jer

I have been told that it is a good idea to freshen up the surface of shafts when installing new seals with very fine emory cloth or crocus cloth.  I have seen rubber-lipped seals wear a shallow groove in steel shafts.  It is not a good idea to re-install a new seal in the same exact location.   It is best to install the seal deeper or more shallow in the seal bore so that the lip can seat on a new surface.  This is especially important with main seals which deal with engine crank pressure on one side, oil on the transmission side, or possible dirt on the ignition side.   Please comment.   Thank you,  joe

joe, i concur with your analogy. also,if the groove is a little too deep for comfort, there is a device called a "speedi sleeve" made by chicago rawhide that you can press on over the seal surface once the bearing is in place. its very thin and is a press fit. it gives you a new seal surface and can salvage some otherwise unusable cranks. i have runn some of my race bikes with these and have never experienced a related failure. some other manufacturers make a similar product and they are available from good bearing house or even some good auto parts stores.   jerry
