The fender on the right is an OEM '76 MC5 fender.

The fender on the left is also made for MC5's - except that it extends 2" longer in the rear, 1 1/2" longer on the front
- and does not taper as much going rearward, so is 1" wider at the rear tip.
Have you ever seen one like this ?

Bob,
I believe the longer rear fender was used on the 78 MC5's and possibly, (by pure spectulation), could have been even used on some mid to later 77's. The Falk replacement also could have been installed on any of the MC5's. I am not sure exactly when it came out. Part #'s in both the 76 & 77 manual is the same (55.08.014.000), but the 78 MC5 manual I have does not include any information on the rear fender, or even front and rear wheels like previous manuals. More speculation. But my 78 MC-5 was pretty well unmolested when I got it and it had the smaller rear fender, not the Falk. Mine has the front with an embossed "KTM" in an oval at the front tip, which I read somewhere was a '78-only phenomenon. The best place to check would be that pristine "78-in-a-crate" that was on Ebay last Spring. The photos are posted here somewhere. That should show what was spec'd as new, though as we know, some variety of spec was common.
