Now that I have a 38mm Mikuni (Ifound 2 of em ) Where do I want to start, as far as jets, needle & slide for a 250 hare scrambler motor? These carbs seem to have a short throat with nothing past the bell so to speak

The best place to start is the POG website w/ the search feature.Pretty much everything that has ever been done to a penton has at some point been discussed on this site.If you can,t find it there try Sudco.I bought my 32 for my six days through AMS and I'll tell ya for around a 100 bucks shipped to my door I'll never buy a used one again.Put it on and it fired right up.Jetting was right on.

I have done the conversion to a Mikuni to a couple of 250, and I had trouble getting a 36 fitted correctly, I can not imagine doing that with a 38 with out doing alot of modification..

The 38mm is the same size body as the 36, just a different size bore.

My bad. It seems that it was a 36mm and some one had bored it out to 1.4" (36.5mm) The reason I'm asking this is that the carbs came from a full blown rz 350 road racer (very radical porting).  with a 270 main, 6DH7 needle, and a 1.5 slide. Didn't know if that would be a good place to start. .  I don't remember seeing a carb like this but they kind of remind me of some lectrons I used to have. None of my other Mikuni's  have 2 separate floats and it seems kinda short. Overall length is 3.875" overall height 5.875 (top of cap to drain plug). Air box side (id) starts out at 2.4" and tapers down to the slide. Also there were some markings on the carb body in a little square marked T7 & 7.1
