Team POG - has anybody found a good (great?) metric bolt/nut/washer kit out there in the market place?  Some are advertised as brand specific, so I wasn't sure that was the way to go.  Most seem to be 30 bucks plus or minus 10.

Thanks.

Dr. Bob,  Try Dorman brand kit.  I got mine at Pep Boys <$30.  Most everything is useful except the 7mm stuff.  Also, check with your local MC dealer and make friends with the guy who uncrates and assembles the bikes, 4 wheelers, boats --- lots of 6 & 8mm nuts and bolts, misc washers, and brackets that just get thrown away. -EP

Go to Fastenal and purchase a bag of what you need.  6mm, 8mm, 10mm, some 12mm.  They sell it by the bag and you can pick out whatever you want.;)

I buy from McMaster-Carr, a large industrial supply firm. The quality is first rate and the prices are fair. I buy in boxed quantities as it is usually cheaper in the long run that buying 1 or 2 at a time. Sometimes a box of 20 fasteners from McMaster-Carr is cheaper than buying 4 or 5 from a fastener specialist. Larger size fasteners are available individually as well.
It cost me about $100 to replace all of the fasteners on my 1980 KTM 420, including most engine fasteners, with high quality stainless steel fasteners, plus I have the extras added to my spare fastener kit.
