I know this is a dangerous area to tread but I just cant sit by and see our freedoms being taken away.  Too many brave people have fought and died for these freedoms to give them away and not speak up.

Anti freedom laws got on a roll with the seat belt law.  Originally this law was pushed thru because it was argued that if two or more people were in the car they could hit one another causing injury.  Well then why I ask do we have to have it on by ourselves?

Next was smoking.  I dont smoke but my wife does some and again this law may help in limited situations, but Id rather have my freedom.

Last year we had the lead law. Heres the real reason congress wont allow the Consumer Products Safety Commision to exempt off road vehicals. "He does not believe that children should be riding motorcycles". This was stated by Sen. Jay Rockefeller's aid. MR Rockefeller is the Chairman of the Commerce, Science and transportation Committee. Byrd and Waxman are also heads of related committies that dont think OUR children should ride motorcycles and think THEY should think about and decide this matter FOR US...because we are just dumb hicks.

In addition this administration has shut up millions of acres from off road use and is trying to shut down millions more, over the objection of the states and local people in these areas.  Some of the areas they want to "declare" wilderness have public roads, buildings and have been used for off road use for decades. "wilderness" means not even horse back riding is allowed.

Now we have healthcare.  If government pays our medical costs they will have a legitimate right to tell us what we can and cant do, eat, ect. Do you want to give up this freedom too? I guess it wouldnt matter that they shut down all the riding areas this way...because we would not be allowed to ride dirt bikes anyway do to the fact we might get hurt and cause the taxpayers money!!!!!!!!

I agree health care is broken, but lets not let them take away more freedom to fix it.

I say anyone who has been in congress for over two terms has got to go...all of em, good and bad.  We have to send a message we want to continue to remain a free country.  These congressmen and senators that have been in congress for decades have lost complete touch with everyday America and Americans and have become too powerful...and corrupt. THEY ALL HAVE TO GO (at least the ones up for re election in 2010). This is the ONLY way we can change this trend and send a message we are mad as hell and we are not going to take this anymore (great movie)!

Sorry for the ranting, and I hope I didnt create any enemies, but I am mad as hell! Im not looking for responses to this post, only action from those of you who agree.

Similar stuff is going on up here too a number of riding areas have either been shut down or cut into pieces. Grouping four wheelers into the same area as bikes, yea, like that is really a good idea. Don't even get me started on our civil freedoms. I am sick to death over the those I have already lost. our forefathers would be up in arms if they knew what has happened to us...

An MIT research project recently (one year ago) showed that countries who "stimulate" economic growth through small business and indivual rebate plans tend to recover faster than "bailout" programs.  Bailout programs tend to put the economic stiuation back where it was before the bailout within a year.

In Indiana, our governor is cutting public education money by 300 million. I would think, of course being a teacher I'm biased, that we would learn from the past and not cut education dollars but at least maintain them in these difficult times to educate our youth.  Silly me, what was I thinking? [}:)]

So true, I just hope the damage these communist fools in Washington are doing can be undone, the question is who will be the next person to be able to observe, preserve, honor and enforce the constitution like Reagan? Mike, I certainly can concur that there is a deep understanding and sentiment about the future of our great country. We have so many issues: our borders are not secure, what happened to soventry?
If you took all of the profits from the Fortune 500's and apply them to our National debt, it would take something on the order of 145 years to help pay the interest.....who and why are these things happening?
Maybe it will change, maybe it won't, our country is still a great one, and needs leadership....not real happy right now either.

In short, thanks for the Post, tho slightly off-topic, still remains an issue of the heart.

Observe the constitution as written is a very simple concept, they have a problem with it because they are communists. Senator Joe McCarthy went about it probably in the wrong way but his message was sound, he warned in the post WW2 era we were being infiltraited by communists, how correct he was.
