Thanks Rob- I actually contacted Cycle news a couple of years ago and they said that many of the archive issues were destroyed in a flood.

Many of the 74's had the wide front rim.  The hubs are actually quite light as they were Mag by then (they should be stamped so). The 73 and early 74 frames were lighter.  You could use a swing arm off one of those, it would be lighter, but it would not be as rigid.
