I have a pair of S&W (Made In Spain) D-525-3  4 H C shocks on this Mudlark I'm restoring. Does anyone know if they can be rebuilt.
There's no real nut where the plunger goes in to the barrel, but yet it looks like it should or has to come apart. But it is just round like the barrel. Was thinking it might just be a pressed in collar instead of a nut.
Maybe they're not worth repairing.
Just thought I'd ask.

I dont believe they can be rebuilt. Progressive's 14 series shocks are the same thing as the old non-gas charged S&Ws.

Keep the old shocks for that "retro" look.  They may not work real well, but they can sure look good if you are restoring the bike.

The 14 series Progressive shocks are "retro" because they are the same shocks he has now, Progressive bought the rights to the S&W stuff. the 14 series do not work very well, but they look perfect for a resto.

I have a pair of Betor's from an Ossa restore. I rebuilt those. They look just like these, except for the way they come apart. I'll use them I guess. And they are the same length.
The S&W's from the Mudlark dampen coming up, but not going down.
