Hi:

Would like to know if anyone has found a match for the red paint that is needed to do the frame? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks:

Tom:)

Similar to the '79-'81 frame red-orange? Used Chevrolet motor red, pretty close.

I use Chevy orange-red, which is a little deeper shade of orange than the standard Chevy orange. I matched it from the upper coil frame tab on my 1980 KTM 420. The side that the coil was bolted to had not been exposed to dirt or sunlight. Although I had my frame powdercoated, Duplicolor makes an engine enamel of the same color, number 1607, I believe, that I've used for the hubs and brake backing plates.

"Back in Day", my dealer used to stock cans of Case Tractor "Flambeau Red" for repainting KTM frames, and it's very close to the original color. The PPG number is 71282.

The part on the left is a rear brake lever repainted "Flambeau Red", held up against an original '81 fork leg.
