crank drail plug

I pulled it out to check how much gas was in the crank and when I put it back in, it did not want to tighten done.. So I will need to fix that, any ideas as to how to do that without pulling the motor down?

what is recoil? I know what helicoil is and won't that require a tear down to make sure that you do not get fillings in the bottom of the crank? Or can I simply take the top end off and flush out the bottom end... I would not imagine there would be much especially if I hold a vacuum close as I drill and tap...

Same thing but different company.  Put grease on the tap when using it.  Use gravity to your advantage!

Kip is right. Grease the tap up real good and most of the chips will either fall to the floor or stick to the tap. For an extra measure you could remove the carb and rotate the engine to TDC and then flush out the bottom end through the intake port with some gas. Just be sure not to use too much and flooding the case or you run the risk of contaminating the bearings with debris.

I suggest you take your time to do it correctly, and without distractions.  Be PATIENT!  Align the tap with the hole as best you can.  Turn the tap IN, then reverse the tap to loosen the chips, then tap IN, repeat procedure  (this is a given for those who know how to use a tap correctly, but I have seen people attempt to tap new holes in steel without reversing the tap and break taps off in the hole...).  I assume the cases are aluminum or magnesium.  I think kerosine might be suggested as a lubricant.  Anyone have other suggestions?  How well would WD-40 work?
