Greetings,

A while back Dan Killian, aka thrownchain, made a fantastic suggestion that in honor of John Penton turning 85 this year that we try to assemble 85 Pentons in Pentonville during VMD. There are a number of logistical problems that will prevent us from pursuing this interesting endeavor, including when to do this given the many activities going on all weekend that Penton owners will be involved in, space limitations in bustling Pentonville, and security for machines left unattended for long periods of time. Thank you Dan for the great idea, sorry we can't pursue it.

Speaking of activities, for anyone wanting to participate or spectate in the racing programs here is a schedule of events.

As always we encourage folks to bring their Pentons to Pentonville for our display. We usually try to set up the machines in chronological order to provide viewers with a time line of the evolution of the Penton. Any and all Pentons are welcome to be displayed, from barn fresh machines to perfect restorations and everything in between. You would be amazed at how much attention the most used and abused of the machines will draw. The specialty machines that Penton sold are also welcome, nothing like a wonderful walk along a winding wall of Wassels :).

We will be having our annual VMD POG meeting on Saturday evening.

As usual we encourage folks to make Pentonville their home away from home for the weekend. Many of the folks who were actively involved in making the Penton Sportcycle a reality usually can be found hanging round Pentonville during the event, if you have a special item that you would like John Penton to autograph be sure to bring it along.  I think he wore out 3 Sharpies last year signing all sorts of interesting items.

Being as the CMF 125 is the featured machine for this year, we hope to see a number of them brought out of hiding for the display at Pentonville.

If you have any room left over after loading those 125s please consider dusting of a Jackpiner and bringing it along.  This year is the 85th running of the fabled Jackpine Enduro and we hope to give that event some justly due attention.  As a matter of fact word has it that a section of the fabled enduro just might run thru Pentonville during VMD. It was reported that a small layout crew was headed in that direction with the intention of arriving early Thursday morning to do some covert trail construction, but then again you can't believe most of what you hear from those unscrupulous and unreliable sources:)

What loooks like a not to be missed seminar will be taking place on Saturday.

1:00 PM-2:30 PM:    Seminar: The Early Years of Husqvarna in America, Malcolm Smith, Gunnar Lindstrom, Tom White and John Penton (Hall of Fame Tent)

That should be one interesting presentation.

We hope to provide some interesting information in the POG tent concerning the Penton/Husky relationship. Back in the day those two brands were mentioned together more times than not, we hope to help explain the connection with our display.
