A 1965 or '66, Harley-Davidson M-50.
Rear fender cut. Front fender modified to high position. Lights removed, knobby tires added, and (possibly) exhaust pipe rerouted higher.
Rider unknown (as of now).

It looks like the first real shifting motorcycle which I ever rode.  It had a 50cc engine with a 4 or 5 speed transmission.   Don't remember the brand, but my friend, Pete, received it from his dad's mail order hardware store catalog.

i thought it looks like a sachs side cover, is it a early sachs called the sachsonet

Dirt Bike, June '88

How about I give you some info:
 
The bike was built or transformed into a dirt bike from a Harley Davidson m50 by my grandpa Ray "Tubby" Morris in Athens Ohio. He owned the Harley shop in town and named it Athens Sport Cycles. The shop is still in existence today. The bike was given to me for my 8th birthday in July of 68. I learned to ride in a cemetery that was across the street from the shop that summer. He put the number 22 on the bike after a friend of his. All my bikes or gear have a 22 on them somewhere. This picture was taken at the Athens Motorcycle club in late summer of 69, just before their first Motocross.
 
I remember there being a few people there taking pictures, and not speaking good English. I later found out they were engineers from motorcycle companies. They were in my way and I didn't like it. I also had to stop so they could measure things. How stupid is that. I wanted to be riding. Little did he know he was starting a habit that would take me to five Six Days, several top 10 national HS and GNCC, and Enduro standings as well as many successful AHRMA and AMA championship runs for the Pentovarna team.
