These, and other cool bike drawings can be found at this website:

When you go to the website, you can open up the photos to full size by clicking on them. The red "MC" is what I have as my computer screen wallpaper. Be sure to click on the "Achives" for more cool bikes.

By the way, a '77 MC5 tank doesn't fit worth a darn on a '08 KTM! Kent and I have already checked that out. One of the main problems is that the radiators on a current bike are actually twice as tall as what they are depicted in the drawings. That pushes the tank back too far. If you try to use smaller radiators, then you have a chance of overheating the bike. The MC5 tank is only about 9" wide, but the overall width of the radiators is 14", and that's without the shrouds. The subframe would have to be shortened to use the MC5 seat, and then you would have problems with the airbox. Although, with some fiberglass work, you could get the side panels to fit. But we're not giving up just yet. I'm going to pull the seat and tank off of my '05 model to see if it's any better.

Obviously someone is a true artist with Photoshop. And as Gary points out, the artistry collides heavily with reality when it's steel and fiberglass you're dealing with. Still, the concept is amazing and it gets the imagination going.
The fact is, it would be doable - but at what cost and would it be worth it?? Ducati builds the retro models as high-buck specials - could or should that be replicated in the much more utilitarian world of dirt bikes? That is the $24,000 or $30,000 question. In the meantime, I like the idea of living with them as screen savers. Much more cost effective.
