Im sure this has been asked a billion times and may be controversial.  I have a GS6 with a little over 1000 miles on it.  It has never been apart, was started and ran for maybe 15 minutes last year.  I want to go for short 5 mile rides or so on the street.  Suggestions?

I like Golden Spectro at 32:1 with 93 Octane Marathon Premium fuel. I have ran this in all my bikes with good results for quite some time and I ride trails and country roads and use it in Pentons, Suzuki RM's, Husqvarna's, Etc. and have never fouled a plug. Some racers like a 50:1 ratio, which doesn't spooge the pipe quite as much, but I like the extra protection, especially since my bikes tend to sit in the shop over the winter and Golden Spectro offers good rust/corrosion resistance. Asking dirt bikers about oil is like asking about religion. Having said that, I use Maxima Castor 927 at 32:1 in everything I own, vintage and modern. Here is an article by Harry Klemm, the guy that built and tuned all the Team DG Elsinores in the early 70s, about oils.

I forgot to add, I dont know if it is because I use 50/50 race fuel and pump fuel, or my jetting, but I never get "build up" on my engines from the Castor 927, even in my modern bike with power valves. I recently did the top end on my YZ125 after about 12 months of riding, when I disassembled it it was clean and required nothing in the way of scraping.

I always use Golden Spectro. In my Penton Trials bike I run 64:1. In the MXer I run 32:1. I just tried, from a moto builders recommendation, Spectro's new Platnum full synthetic. So far so good with less smoke and spooge.
Brian, that's a good article. We ran castor (peanut) oil in my daughters two cycle race kart with good results. Love the smell!! I suspect it is your jetting that is keeping everything clean, more than the race gas. I run 50/50 Cam 2 and 93 pump gas also.
Jeff, here's another good article that clears up a lot of misconceptions of mixtures. Spooge 101. Long but worth the read.

Gordon,

A lot of it is my jetting, people are always surprised when they see my dry exhaust outlet and ask what ratio I use and I tell them 32:1. One thing I do notice is with the race fuel mix the exhaust deposits that do stick to the muffler are a dry dark charcoal gray and not wet looking black.

Hello,  I have used Golden Spectro since mid-1970's.  I always use a 50:1 gas/oil ratio and have run this fuel in everything: motorcycles, chainsaws, weedeaters, boat engines, go-kart, and whatever 2-stroke engine I have around here.   I have never had an engine failure, seized piston, blown rod, bearing failure, et.al.  My rule is: "Don't forget to add the oil."   Joe
