Paul, Any meeting/display space and are there any opinions on holding the early spring POG meeting there in the future (as we are doing at the Packard museum)?

And maybe do the Oct meeting at Barber?  Move it around a little to give other people that aren't going to drive all day for a 2 hour meeting a chance to be involved.

The idea of holding meetings at various locations has been tossed about for quite awhile, and with good reason and intentions. One of the other locations considered is the Dave Mungenast Classic Motorcycle Museum in St. Louis.

Both Museums are about 9 hours from Amherst, according to map quest. Given their work schedules and demands on their time, getting enough of the POG board members together at such a distant location to hold a meeting where issues need a quorum for an official vote might be tough to do. Such a trip would quite possibly involve an over night stay for some of them as that is a lot of travel to do in one day.

The idea of a POG "gathering" at such a location has also been suggested, possibly this would allow us to have a nice get together, tour of the facility and possibly a group meal. There is no reason why an informal meeting of the attending folks couldn't be held to get any input and suggestions that folks might have.

Not wanting to jump the gun, but wanting to give a glimpse of where we might be heading, plans are being worked on to host a Saturday event in Amherst in warm weather, possibly each year or every other year, this would allow Penton enthusiasts to "bring them home again". The historic locations, as well as the stories that go along with them that abound the Amherst area, as well as the number of locals who were so involved with the Penton and its creation would allow such an event to be both fun and informative.

There is no perfect answer, or at least I do not know of one, the monthly Thursday night meetings allow us to get POG business handled without taking up a weekend day as many of the folks have many demands of their time, especially in the warmer months, and we know how many folks feel about travel in the winter from the complaints about the Hall of Fame Museum winter meetings. We have found a number of ways to provide ourselves with some entertainment at the Thursday night meeting, such as the "What's in your garage" deal we did, most of these things just happen by accident and turn out to be good fun, and fun is a very important part of what we do.

Please keep the ideas flowing, and don't be afraid to take the bull by the horns and have a gathering of Penton enthusiasts in your area, many of the places we have discussed, plus many others, would most likely welcome you with open arms.

This topic will be put on the January meeting agenda for input from the board members and attendees.  The December meeting is our Christmas / Family Night meeting and we try to avoid topics that will quite possibility have lots of discussion at this meeting.
