If I remember correctly, I think Kip had one of those with the protective covering in the knee area, and maybe still does. Mike

I'm like a sponge, I save everything, emails with pics, etc. You should see my shop, it's a mess! I've been trying to clean off my workbench for the past couple of days just so I can tear down a RM370 bottom end for gears for someone. Lol, Mike
At least the project bike storage area is managable.
A little earlier the work area was unmanageable.
You could barely tell there is a workbench in the rear, but you can see part of it.

Here is the current project underway for a friend.

Hey Mike,

What is the 1981 KTM you have in your shop?  Maybe not a 1981, but it has a 1981 front number plate.

It is an early Piner tank like the one Paul currently has on Ebay.  I put it on a "74" and Uncle Ron currently has it in Texas for his collection.  I like these early Penton tanks and also the ones with the rivets in them around the seams.  If you look through the "Still Keeping Track" magazines, a very early issue depicts this tank on a Piner featured with Doug Wilford.

Tony,
That is a early (March) 1980 MC250 that was my 3rd Penton/KTM bike I ever bought. I got it missing the tank, seat, and pipe, and plastic at a swap meet in Southern Illinois, and with the exception of the missing rear fender had it displayed it at Mid-Ohio one year. Unfortunately, I have not been able to ever ride it, as it has pin holes in the engine cases and I haven't had it repaired yet, but it actually ran after I got it and my brother rode it a very short distance down the road without a pipe on it!
This was my first attempt at building/restoring a bike. The rear fender was removed for DC Plastics to use as a sample. I borrowed the clutch lever and cable to use on another bike, and this bike was one of the 3 that I took down to Texas for Kevin at Circle F racing to build pipes for. Mike
