Don't forget this weekend (1/27-1/29) is the cycle show at the IX Center. We will have a nice display setup, so stop by and say Hi.

Any of you folks that want to stop by and hang out, or even help man the display, please feel free to do so.  It is always a great time and the stories that the attendees tell are usually pretty interesting. If you have a POG or Penton shirt this event is a great place to wear it, and maybe even get JP to sign it for you.

As a side note, some of you may remember that last year I missed the last day of the show as our grandson Gavin decided to make his arrival on that particular day, we will be celebrating Gavin's 1st. birthday Saturday night at home, I wish these kids would do a little better job of planning  :)

Show Hours
Friday,   January 27--     3:00pm - 9:00pm
Saturday, January 28--     9:00am - 9:00pm
Sunday,   January 29--     9:00am - 5:00pm

Here is a link to the show website for further info.

I will be bringing my KR/ Penton short tracker to the I-X center to display in the booth. [:p]

I will also be there Friday evening after work, Saturday after 6, and Sunday after 1 - to help out at the booth to answer questions and spread the gospel of JP.

There is an unconfirmed rumor going around that "Crazy Jake" Fischer will be making an appearance at the POG / Penton display on Saturday. How will you know if he is there, if you hear continuous laughter coming from our corner it is a safe bet that Jake has arrived... Supposedly he has a law-man doing the driving....

I would like to give a big thanks to Al & Ollie Martin, and Art Busick, who have been scooting around the Amherst area on a pretty rainy day picking up machines for the POG display. I am sure that NSU Jeff Borer has been busy getting his machines ready as well. Jack Penton had his machines ready for pick up as did Al Born. We still don't know for sure if the "naked rider" will be on display :) But if he shows up we have some period correct leathers for him to sport, courtesy of "Crazy Jake"..

Again, thanks to all of you folks who give so freely of your time.

Well the show is over, and there are lots of stories to tell, but this is one I have never heard before.

A fellow is looking at the display and we begin to talk. I asked if he ever had a Penton, he answers that he hadn't, but his brother-in-law did.  I asked what color the gas tank was and he replies red, then he states that all they still have of the bike is the gas tank, turns out to be a red metal gas tank.... Well you know what I asked next, and his reply was that this tank will never be parted with...

Turns out that his brother-in-law loved this bike so much that he requested that when he died that he be cremated and that his ashes be put into the gas tank of his Steel Tank Berkshire. The fellow went on to tell of how at the  funeral service the tank containing the ashes was placed on a table at the head of the room.....and that the tank is still prominently displayed at home, ashes and all .

WOW!  I helped man the POG booth FRI and SAT.  This story must have been told SUN because I have never heard it.  I thought I have heard them all.  Can you top this story?  :D

Paul,
I have the  same story. About twenty years ago I visited Century Cycle in San Pedro Ca. Checking out the beautiful Vincent tank mounted on the wall I had to ask, and yes it contained the ashes of the original owner. So the idea must have been around a while. If you look closely at the images section of their web site you will see the same.
