Not sure if anyone here has had to purchase one of the small 12V sealed beam bulbs (Wagner or GE 4454) for any of their bikes lately but I went to my local NAPA to pick one of these up last week and was told the price was now $38!  Told them to keep it, checked a few other parts stores and the price was similar.   Did some searching online and found a company elightbulbs.com that had them for less than $13.  So I figured I would pass the info along in case anyone else has had the same sticker shock I did.  Link is below http://www.elightbulbs.com/General-44540-4454-Miniature-Automotive-Light-Bulb

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

I purchased an american made 12V sealed beam headlight for tractors from a tractor shop of 4 and 3/4 dia. to fit my 73' cmf headlight bowl.  This headlight is a single bean for ford tractors.  Since the lip or ridge is thicker on the glass, buy piano string wire in order to make new headlight "clips".  it works nice.  I try to stay away from supporting asian economies with their cheaper products while it is not authentic on the bikes.

cheers,

Peter,

I'm with you;  I ALWAYS buy American when possible. The bulbs I mentioned above are dual beam 40W X 40W and are the Wagner brand, not an Asian import. They even have the little nub to hold them into my Preston Petty lamp holder.  They are made in Southfield Michigan.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

Thanks for your  message.  Yes, the petty light setups are different than what i have.  The years 73-74 cmf bikes, the metal headlight bowls were around 5 inches in diameter and so it has been a little tricky to get a bean to fit, which is slightly under 5" in dia..  I found out about this from Nelson C. good luck.
