I have a problem with a 99KTM 200MXC that I just recently aquired.  IT has NO dampening in the front forks.   45mm Magnums.
I pulled the compression side apart. Oil level at 140mm.
7.5 w  and tried 10w....
I pulled the dampening rod out of the fork leg and stroke the dampner rod with it sitting in oil... Nothing...

I cant figure out how to get the dampening unit apart though...
\
At the bottom, the part with threads in it can be moved inward some.
at the top, nothing there ?

No manual, so far I havnt been able to figure it out...
It has to come apart some way..

Anyone ??

Hi Bob, There are circlips "hiding inside of the cartridge cylinders. After removing cartridges from fork, thread bolt back into cartridge a few turns and tap on bolt. This will move base valve into cartridge therefore exposing hidden circlip inside of the cartridge tube. After removing clip, pull on bolt with pliers and remove base valve. Next let the damping rod drop out of cartridge. Now you can completly inspect and clean the valving, but dont mix parts left or right. As you know right side fork is rebound side, left is compression side fork.

Thanks very much Jerry,   As per our phone conversation this afternoon, I think I am finally getting somewhere with them.
Cant try them out till Sat or Sun though.
If I still have problems with it, will let you know what I find.

Thanks again.

Bob
