Are Showa shocks rebuildable?

Most shocks like those are usually not or should I say not rebuildable in the normal method. I've seen guys change the oil in that type shock by drilling and tapping a small hole in the body, then pumping the old fluid out and pumping new shock fluid back in and sealing it with a screw and copper washer. If you just use air then then you just need to displace enough fluid for the amount of incoming shaft.

If they have seal damage then this might be a problem.

Just remembered that someone a few years ago was actually rebuilding non-rebuildable shocks but it was a little expensive at the time. I'll see if I can find the person/company.

No, these are not rebuildable, moreover, when they were new they were terrible shocks.

Anybody know if there is anyone out there rebuilding the orange colored remote cannister Bilsteins that came on the 79-81 KTM 250,400 and 420 bikes? I thought I heard at one time someone had figured how to go about it?
