PVL coil mounting issue - MC5

Guys - trying to get ready for Unadilla. Went to mount up a new PVL coil to the MC5 frame mounts and...it's too wide to fit up between the frame members.  Not the coil actually, it's where the spark plug wire exits the coil (at about 10 o'clock looking from end).  It's looks like a 1/4 inch spacer plate between coil mount and frame mount would work  - or in my case - a run to the hardware store for a stack of washers!  FYI- these coils have a separate grounding wire/lug that I guess I would land between washers and frame.

But this just doesn't seem kosher - did Penton guys mail me the wrong coil? Looking for an answer before I cut and crimp PVL terminals on the MC5 wires.  Thought some of you might have experience with this mounting issue.

Dennis Foley - a sincere attempt to return to you the Motoplat coil you so graciously loaned me last year.

Thanks,

Bob Close

The stock Penton MC5 coil mounting arrangement included a thick vibration insulating rectangle material pad that moved the coil down away from the frame tubes. If using a grounding strap, you could use a similar pad to mount the PVL coil. Mike

Interesting - I can see where that would be the case.  When I put the motoplat back to compare, I can see that is basically against frame members, i.e. it barely fits.  Hmmm..a thick piece of material to lower it a bit...

Thanks Brian (and Mike). Tried to figure out if I might have some suitable material (ie thick rubber).  I spaced it out a bit with a couple of washers.  Everything good, except that she is rigid mounted for now.  LOTS of spark  - holy cow.
