The guys putting on the RR event next month need a little help.  They are planning on putting a picture of Billy Uhl from the 73 event on the T shirts. The question is, is he riding a 100cc Penton in the photo they have chosen? The photo is on facebook, under the Leroy Winter Memorial ISDT Reunion Ride.  Second question, does he go by the name Bill, or Billy?  The guys at Pathfinders would really appreciate the help.  See you there!

The photo they are using is from the 1973 ISDT program and appears to have been taken out west or in Texas, perhaps the California or Fort Hood qualifiers?  According to the program, Bill rode 100cc class at Fort Hood (TX), Potosi, McMinnville, and Trask Mtn.  They have him in the 101-125 clas at Southern Ohio and 126-175 class at Shamrock (CA).  He went 5 for 6 on gold, only dropping to silver in Ohio where there were no gold medalists in the 101-125 class anyway.
My guess is the photo is Bill on a 175 at the Shamrock (CA) qualifier based on style of engine side cover (looks KTM to me but I could be wrong, could be Sachs) and on his riding number of 130.  They started by displacement, so small displacement bikes went first with corresponding lower numbers...but I could be wrong on that one, too!  Perhaps Jack or Prez Paul can provide more accurate details.
As for what color to make the bike, Billy and Dane Leimbach were the small displacement kings, most often found leading the 100cc class on Berkshires, which would dictate red bodywork...however all the US team Pentons at the Dalton ISDT had the light blue tanks normally reserved for Jackpiners, regardless of displacement, the one exception being Jack's yellow tank overbored 250.  That should sufficiently muddy the waters!
